If your Teams account has been enabled for external calling to PSTN number (dialing anything like 979 555 1212 instead of a Teams user name) you can access the dialpad to make and receive calls. Instructions To dial a number from Teams, go to Calls, and click Dial a number: and then enter the number of the person you want to reach by using the dial pad. Then click Call You will also see your MS Teams number listed at the top of the dialpad where you see xxx-xxxx in the figure above. Important: You won't be able to make a 911 emergency call if Teams isn't connected to the internet. Note: If you don't see the option to dial a number, your org may not have purchased a calling plan. But you can still make calls to other people in Teams. Here are a few other ways to make a call: If the person you want to reach is in your contacts list, click Contacts, find the person you want to call, and then click the Call icon (highlighted) If you’ve called people before (or if they’ve called you), they’ll be in your call history. In History, select More Actions to the right of the person’s name, then click Call Back. You can also access your voicemail and call people from that list. In Voicemail, select More Actions to the right of the person’s name, then click Call Back. To access your dial pad during a call, go to your call controls and select Keypad. Teams calling also enables you to customize your phone experience and offers additional functionality. Here are links to the getting started guide, as well as two very short videos from Microsoft giving the basics of Teams calling: First things to know about calls in Microsoft Teams (Document) Get started with Teams Phone in Microsoft Teams (Video) Microsoft Teams calling made simple (Video) Things to note about the change to Microsoft Teams Calling: Everyone’s number will stay the same (unless it is approved to be changed by a supervisor) Dialing extensions (example: 42345) will not work once your number has been converted to a Microsoft Teams number You don’t have to “call” employees within TTI – you can simply start a Teams audio or video session with them without dialing their number During the transition, TTI employees not yet migrated will need to dial the full 10-digit number to reach you, and vice versa Your Cisco desk phones will no longer work once your numbers move to Microsoft Teams. NIS will retrieve the phones after the migration is complete. If your department/office has a shared line in MS Teams that you will be responsible for answering, MS Teams has a simple process (see below.) A shared line is referred to as an “auto attendant” or a “call queue” in MS Teams. Instructions Handling an auto attendant or call queue call Users will be able to differentiate incoming calls from an auto attendant or call queue before they answer the call. Along with the name and/or number of the caller, each call will include information about who the caller was trying to reach, giving users a better context for addressing the caller. The following illustration shows how an incoming call from an auto attendant or call queue will appear to a user. Once an auto attendant or call queue call is answered, the user can process the call like any other call — they can add or conference with another user or transfer the call to another party. Also, auto-attendant calls will be forwarded based on the user's configuration. …
