This article will show you how to make a VPN connection from the log-in screen using Cisco’s Start Before Login Module.

Prerequisites

Let’s check if we have the correct program installed:

  1. Open the Control Panel, open Programs, and Features, and look for ‘Cisco AnyConnect Start Before Login Module’.

Making a Connection

Now that we have the necessary programs installed, let’s get connected.

  1. Go to the Log-in screen and look for the icon of two monitors on the bottom right. If you hover over it with your mouse it should say ‘Network sign-in’ as shown below.

  2. Click on the Network sign-in icon. You should see the following screen.

  3. Sign in to Cisco AnyConnect as you usually would.

  4. If the connection is successful, you will be thrown back to the login screen. If you look at the bottom right you should notice a new icon that says ‘Disconnect’ if you hover over it.

  5. Log in normally. If you open up the Cisco Anyconnect app, you’ll notice it’s already running a VPN session.
